What is a Licensed Operator?
Each State and Territory Award Authority licenses 'Operators' to conduct The Duke of Ed Program. They are commonly known as LO's and are responsible for delivering the Award to Participants.

Licenced Operators then appoint Award Coordinators who become the main contact and the ones who guide Participants on their Duke of Ed journey.

Being a Licensed Operator means that you are forming a partnership with the largest pursuit of youth development in the world - The International Award for Young People!

The Duke of Ed is an affordable program, providing tangible support in terms of experience, promotional materials, equipment, training and insurance

The Duke of Ed also offers a framework to develop the important skills that we believe young people should definitely have, including skill development, group participation, confidence, self esteem, leadership, fitness, and community connection.

Coordinators are the adult volunteers who manage The Duke of Ed on behalf of the Licensed Operator (LO).
As a volunteer, the opportunity to enhance the lives of young people is endless. If you sign up your group/organisation to become an LO, you might decide to become the Coordinator
How do I get involved?
If you'd like to know how to become a Licensed Operator, you need to contact your State/Territory office and one of the great Duke of Ed staff will help you out!
NB: It is the responsibility of the Licenced Operator that relevant child protection requirements are observed for each adult who may work unsupervised with an Award Participant under the age of 18 years.
