Minister's Message

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Queensland.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a valuable, exciting and rewarding development program for all young Queenslanders. I see the Award as an opportunity for young people in Queensland to challenge and learn about themselves and others and realise their true value.

The Award program is well known internationally and provides an opportunity for young people to be recognised and acknowledged for their commitment, persistence and self-reliance. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award operates in over 120 countries.

In Queensland it is administered by the Department of Communities and this would not be possible without the support of the many people in the community who volunteer their valuable time and energy to guide the participants in achieving their awards.

These volunteers, whether they are Licensed Operators, Award Coordinators, Assessors or committee members, are the backbone of The Award and the key to its success in Queensland.

My hope is that with community support and commitment, every young Queenslander will one day reap the benefits of being involved in this personal development program.
