Responsibilities

Coordinators are the guiders of The Award and therefore have some responsibilities to both the young people they lead and The Award itself.

Their responsibilities are:

1.      Developing and implementing strategies for attracting a broad spectrum of young people to participate in the Award.

2.      Advising, guiding and assisting young people to participate in the Award.

3.      Ensuring access to The Award is readily available to all.

4.      Ensuring members of all social groups within your organisation are considered and catered for.

5.      Engaging with adolescents experiencing lack of motivation and direction should be considered

6.      Providing young people with access to registration and the distribution of Record Books and other literature.

7.      Encouraging Award Participants to reach beyond their grasp, to do more than the minimum required.

8.      Encouraging Participants to choose a diverse and challenging range of activities.

9.      Encouraging Participants to complete their Award, and progress to the next level where possible.

10.  Assisting Participants to find suitable Assessors.

11.  Keeping records of Participants and volunteer helpers, including all Assessors approved by your organisation.

12.  Liaising and co-ordinating activities with other operators of the Award in their area.

13.  Ensuring The Awards achieved are authorised and presented in accordance with your State/Territory policies.

14.  Arrange Award presentations as required (Note: Gold Award presentations are usually coordinated at a State/Territory level)

15.  Publicising the Award.

16.  Ensuring the safety and well being of the Participants.

17.  Maintaining the operation of the Award within your Licenced Operator.

18.  Maintaining and upholding the philosophies, principles and National policies of The Award.

19.  Ensuring the operation of the Award meets the requirements of the International Declaration and Principles (Coordinators - please refer to Section 7 of your Handbook).
