As we search for words to adequately describe the impact of the Duke of Ed on the lives of young people, we often use the word empowered. I can’t think of a better word to use when discussing the impact that our supporters have made on the Award in Australia.

The generosity of our Ambassadors, sponsors and benefactors, especially in the past 12 months, has made a profound difference to The Award’s ability to keep reaching out to more and more young people, regardless of their background and circumstances.

In 2009 with this support The Award;

Increased our Participation rate by 24% taking numbers to over 33,000 across the country
Launched the pilot of the Online Record Book - a digital platform which allows all stakeholders involved in The Award program to communicate effortlessly through Integrating online, email and mobile technology to ensure access of our program regardless of your location
Released the new Award Handbook, the official guide to running The Award to support our Co-coordinators and volunteers who deliver the program
Hosted The Award International Triennial Forum for over 250 international delegates from approx 50 countries around the world to discuss the future of The Award Program globally
Launched our Ambassadors Program to recognise and celebrate the many people who support us.

As we commence 2010, our ambition is to continue growing The Award and ensuring further reach and access of the program to all young people in Australia regardless of their location or circumstance.

Our ability to grow the program and make contact with young people in more regional areas of the country is only made possible through the financial support of our Ambassadors, corporate sponsors, community partners, our wonderful volunteers, together with that of many generous individual benefactors. It is through this support that we have the ability to keep reaching out to more young people, regardless of their location or circumstances.
